12月のカレンダーを手がけたアーティストは、ベルギーのヘントを拠点に活動するマリオ・デ・メイヤー。幾何学的でカラフル、ダイナミックな動きと丸みを感じさせるタイポグラフィーで知られ、企業広告をはじめFortuneやWiredなど雑誌メディアなどへも作品を提供しています。今作では、HOPPYの英文字を立体的に描き、赤や茶色、黄色など暖色系のカラーパレットで彩り、雪の結晶や星などホリデーシーズンを連想させるパターンを散りばめ、HOPPYの文字を際立たせました。日本の食文化に敬意を抱くというマリオ。「ものづくりへの情熱、準備、そしてそのお披露目。ほかに類をみないこだわりの姿勢から学ぶことは大きい」と語ってくれました。
The illustration for December was done by Mario De Meyer an artist based in Ghent, Belgium. His artwork is known for typography that is dynamic, colorful, and geometric. He has worked with magazines and media like Fortune and Wired. Mario created this month’s art piece by drawing a word “HOPPY” three-dimensionally with a warm color palette such as red, brown, and yellow, and added a patterns of snow flakes and stars which evokes a holiday season feeling. Mario has massive respect for Japanese food culture. He shared his thoughts, saying, “The passion, preparation and presentation is unmatched, I think we all can learn a lot from that.”
