Cynthia Alonso

The illustration for August was done by Cynthia Alonso from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She created an illustrated book with no words while traveling around the world, discovering visual stories that embody shades of color. She is also active in her teaching of typography at the university level. Cynthia created this month’s art piece using the theme of HOPPY and Summer with her own memories of “Happy Summers.” She was inspired by white sand, blue ocean, colorful shells, and a kite swaying in the wind under the blue sky. She shared her thoughts on this piece, saying, “Every time I produce an image for a different culture and context than mine it opens a new universe of sensibility. I admire Japanese culture very much, and I hope this art collaboration also brings something new to the audience and helps to connect both cultures through art.”
