2019年8月のカレンダーを手がけたアーティストは、アメリカ合衆国・オレゴン州ポートランドを拠点に活動するニーヴァン・ドイル。独特な色使いと躍動感のあるデジタルアート作品を生み出し、音楽業界を中心に活躍しています。今作では、高層ビルを背にしたホッピー提灯を「Summer」の文字と共にニーヴァン色に染め上げました。「祖父が学芸員として日本の芸術作品を多く所持していたため、幼い頃から日本の美に影響を受けてきた。中でも日本独自の『わびさび』の精神は私の作品に強い影響を与えている。今回の作品では、溶けるように熱い日本の夏に、ホッピーを飲んで楽しんでいる様子をイメージし製作した。アートを通して世界中の人たちに夢や感動を与えられることを願っている。」と語ってくれました。
The illustration for August was done by Nevan Doyle, an artist based in the United States, Oregon, Portland. He produces digital artworks with unique colors and motion, and he plays an active role in the music industry. Nevan created this month’s art piece with the word “Summer” with a Hoppy lantern with tall buildings on the back by using his own style. He shared his thoughts, saying, “My grandfather was a curator of Japanese art and has a huge collection of woodblock artworks, water droppers, and more. I’ve always loved Japan’s style. I’d say my art process heavily embodies the idea of wabi-sabi. I hope that my artwork can help bring people together over the shared struggles of life.”
